I am a fully qualified English to German translator with 18 years of experience, a native German speaker with native-level command of English, a Member of the North West Translators' Network and of the Society of Authors Translators' Association.
Trading as GermanEnglish Language Services, I offer translation, proofreading and editing services for a variety of documents – from marketing material and website content to questionnaires, leaflets and brochures, from poems, short stories and letters to full blown novels.
Originally from the alpine city of Innsbruck in Austria, I am now settled in the walled city of Chester in the UK. In between, I spent four years in the imperial city of Vienna, where I studied English, Italian and anthropology.
I hold the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI), having passed the exam in 2005 with a distinction in both the English to German and the German to English translation tasks.
Furthermore, I have gained the Diploma in Translation in 2009, passing all three papers at the first attempt – quite an achievement.
My first book translation, "The Infinity Pool" by Jessica Norrie, a thrilling holiday read receiving 4- and 5- star reviews, was published in June 2018, as "Der Infinity-Pool, Urlaub im Jetzt".
I have now spent twenty years in England, but (apart from during the pandemic) go back to Austria on a regular basis and keep myself up to date with what's happening on German media. So, I can say with confidence that I am as much at home in English as I am in German.
